White Road
I had heard about this hike from a couple of friends and decided to give it a try. The hike is easy and takes about 1/2 an hour each ways. There is a nice spot to look out into the valley when you first get there. The trail does continue along the valley rim but due to the earthquake of 06 there are parts of the trail that have collapsed.
The only issue with this hike is that it starts on private land, Kam. Estate Land to be exact. I have done this hike a number of times and no one has ever said anything to me.
Distance: 1.5 miles
Time: 1 hour
Elevation Change: 100 feet
To get to the trail head head east out of waimea town and turn left when you see white road. Park at the end of the road, on the right side and hop over the gate. Follow the road until the trail starts.

Pololu Valley
The Pololulu Valley hike is a beautiful hike on the northern tip of the big island. We started the hike about 9am. There was parking at the end of the road, thought I have been there later in the day and there has been none. The trail into Pololu valley is a high way. There are lots of people hiking the trail down to the black sand beach. After Pololu the trail becomes a normal Hawaii trail.
The trail ended up being blocked about 2.4 miles into the hike. I could hear the river in honokane valley. We had to turn back :(
There is not water in Pololu valley so if you are going to spend the night there bring lots of water. We had planed on filtering water from the stream in Honokane and had to hike out.
Distance 6 miles to 2nd valley, Honokane Valley and back.
Time: 4.5 Hours

Kalopa State Park - Nature Loop
The trail head is to the left of the mess hall. The trail is short and doesn't offer a lot of views. There is a eucalyptus forest on the ocean side that is pretty.
